Günther Uecker started his artistic training in 1949 in Wismar, passing through Berlin and Düsseldorf, where he finished his studies in 1955. The German artist distinguished himself by his particular use of nails in his works, an object that left his surroundings surprised. In 1960, he founded an artistic group called ZERO, together with Heinz Mack and Otto Piene, breaking with the most conservative movement of the time. It was here where he discovered the opportunities offered by light, and by combining both elements he began to experiment with optical lighting and shadows. His project began to generate traction and was exhibited throughout the East and West from the 1960s onwards.

Günther Uecker also took an interest in teaching, and from 1976 to 1995 he taught art at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Curious and rebellious, the German author presents us with a simple, penetrating work, at the hand of his pulse and the light.
