Enrique Barro
Graduated in sculpture from the Escola Massana in Barcelona and known by his artistic name Enrique Barro, Enrique Bargunyó is a multidisciplinary artist who has focused his artistic work on painting, drawing, and sculpture. His versatility in using basic materials and tools is remarkable, as he utilizes all parts of them, almost in a recycling manner, transforming a single entity into many distinct forms and achieving nearly infinite shapes, colors, and textures. For instance, he extracts both the wood shavings from sharpening a pencil—used to create sculptures and two-dimensional landscapes—and the chromatic residue from this action, which he employs to create new textures and collages of abstract and isolated bodies. The result, regardless of the discipline, transports us to new microcosms where colors and shapes invite the purest and most primary contemplation, one that expects nothing in return, only the viewer's enjoyment in front of the new and fantastic formation of everyday elements, thus appreciating the fragile beauty hidden in the smallest parts that make up our vast world.
Enrique Barro has held various solo and group exhibitions in cities such as Barcelona, Madrid, and Mexico City; and his work is part of collections such as the Fundació Vilà Casas and the DKV Art Collection.
